MAPANDGIS
Noise Immission Forecasting with an Integrated GIS
MAPANDGIS is a program system for calculating noise immissions from industry, traffic, leisure facilities and wind energy. Its distinguishing feature is the fully integrated GIS: model data and results are held in layers, can be analysed with SQL-style filters and prepared for presentation in a variety of ways. The calculation model can additionally be displayed in three dimensions — any 2D layer, such as a noise map or a site plan, can be projected into the 3D view.
The software is developed by Kramer Schalltechnik GmbH and used daily in our own projects.
Conformity and Quality Assurance
Signed declarations of conformity are available for use in approval procedures. They relate to the current version, MAPANDGIS 2.0.0.8 of 26 May 2026:
- RLS 19, Parkplatzlärmstudie (car park noise study), RLS 90 — all test cases from section 3 of document TEST-20 v2.1 are solved within the permitted tolerances, in both the reference and the test configuration
- Schall 03 — QSI form covering the test cases from the German Federal Ministry of Transport’s explanatory notes of 01.01.2015, and compliance with ISO/TR 17534-3:2015
- VDI 4101 Part 2 — noise immission forecasting for wind turbines, AQSI form Table A12; the test cases of VDI 4101 Part 2 and ISO/TR 17534-3 are calculated correctly
- DIN 45687 — quality requirements for software calculating outdoor noise immission, with QSI forms for VDI 2714:1988-01, DIN ISO 9613-2:1999-10, RLS-90:1990, Schall 03:1990 and Schall 03 (2015)
- ISO 9613-2:1996 — producer’s declaration following ISO 17534-1 and ISO/TR 17534-3

The current state of ISO 9613:2024 is largely implemented and can be selected for test purposes. National adoption is still subject to a decision by the responsible standards committee NA 001-02-03 AA.
From Site Plan to Noise Map
A typical project involves only a few steps:
- Create the project and import a raster or vector plan — georeferenced data is detected and the coordinate system adopted automatically
- Digitise buildings or import them as GML data
- Create sound sources and assign spectra
- Place immission points and run a single-point calculation
- Calculate the noise map — horizontal, vertical or as a building noise map
- Add the results as a layer, colour them and prepare them for presentation
Data Import and Geodata
- Terrain model from GeoTIFF — for example the official DGM1 elevation model, with automatic generation of elevation points and contour lines
- Building import from GML/LoD1 open geodata portals; duplicate buildings are detected and skipped on import
- Vector and raster formats including Shape, GeoJSON and GPX
- Spectra from CSV files in HLUG format or directly from the source database
- Export of calculation results as CSV

MAPANDGIS is under continuous development. Recent versions introduced the source database, the reworked spectrum editor, ice stock sport calculation to VDI 3770, terrain generation from GeoTIFF data and the preview of ISO 9613:2024.
